Athlone Trust bursaries 2008

2007-11-29

FOR the past nine years, the Athlone Institute Trust (AIT) in Paarl has been granting bursaries and bursary loans to promising and needy students who are permanent residents of the area and are in good standing with their parishes.

By the end of this year, 825 students will have received a total of R2,1 million in bursaries and loans.

Only undergraduate students who are registered at tertiary institutions, which have been accredited by the Council on Higher Education, will be considered for a bursary or bursary loan.

Application forms and information are available from tomorrow, Friday 23 November, at the offices of the following churches in Paarl: Bethel United Congregational Church, Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Immanuel UR Church, St Stephen’s Anglican Church, Zions UR Church and the Rev. Simon James, 50 Poole Road, Van Wyk’s Vlei, Wellington (tel:021-873-4794), or phone the Secretary at 021-862-5482.

Completed application forms must be posted to the Secretary, Athlone Institute Bursary Project Fund, PO Box 846, Huguenot, 7645 by Saturday 19 January. No late applications will be considered.

* Students must pay their own registration fees at the institutions, at the beginning of the academic year, out of their own resources.

Next year the Bursary Fund will again award a number of bursaries to tertiary students who are in their second year of study and onwards. Bursaries will be awarded with academic merit and/or financial need of the applicant as primary considerations.
