I AM a solicitor in England. I have a client who was married to a James du Plessis in England. She believes that he may have lived in the Paarl Valley area. Mr du Plessis apparently committed suicide in 1993.
My client would like to remarry, but she cannot do that unless she is able to obtain proof that James du Plessis has in fact died.
She has been informed by the South African embassy that she cannot obtain a copy of his death certificate unless she can provide a date and place of death, as she does not have his ID number.
I would like anyone who knew Mr du Plessis, who could confirm his death, to contact me. My client can apply to court for a declaration that would allow her to remarry, but the court will need proof of some sort.
