Blues at Simonsvlei
2005-06-15
THE Boulevard Blues Band will be at the N1 Paragon Cellar, Simonsvlei on Wednesday 29 June at 20:00.
The band, a highly experienced sextet, has been paying tribute to the blues since 1999.
Lead vocalist Dr John, formerly of the Blues Broers and recently persuaded by a leading brewery to confess that “its so good to be man”, provides proof that the blues voice should attest to a road less travelled.
The soloing of Richard Pryor on guitar and Greg Smith on harmonica breathe new life into blues standards from an array of masters such as Muddy Waters, Eric Clapton, Budy Guy as well as on the band’s originals.
Graeme Abbott on drums, Trevor “Monster” Cranfield on bass and Dale Collins on second guitar ensure that the blue house that Robert Johnson built, remains steadfast on its solid foundation.
A warning to the uninitiated: nothing can prepare you for the power of the blues form live, so don’t be surprised if your musical taste is changed for ever after experiencing it first hand.
Tickets are R60 per person. Book with Lynette Griessel, tel 863-3040 or e-mail info@ simonsvlei. co. za.
