THE Drakenstein Municipality Community Games will be held in the December holidays, starting on Saturday at Simondium Sportsgrounds with clinics of mini-rugby, mini-soccer, netball, athletics and indigenous games.
These continue on into Paarl on 4 to 6 December at New Orleans High School, Fairyland and Paulus Joubert.
On 7 December the clinics will be held in Wellington at Weltevrede Sports Grounds.
From 10 to 12 December the project moves through to Hermon, Saron, Gouda and Mbekweni rugby grounds.
On 13 and 14 December the project involves rural areas at Drakenstein Prison and Niewedrift Primary School.
About 2800 participants will be involved, with the finale on Monday 17 December at Dal Josaphat Stadium. In conjunction with the sports clinics the project will run awareness programmes warning against abuse, drug abuse and gangsterism.
