ARMED robbers escaped with more than R20 000 in cash during an armed robbery at the Mbekweni railway station on Sunday.
Four men with fire-arms entered the station at approximately 17:00 and overpowered three employees and tied them up.
It is alleged that the robbers were in possession of the office and safe keys. They removed removed the cash and fled.
The employees were left tied and locked up in the office and were only freed later on in the evening when an unsuspecting member of the public heard their anxious cries from the office.
No-one has been arrested in connection with the robbery.
