MBEKWENI resident Solomzi Bisholo (47) was once one of the best theatre actors you can find in Southern Africa. His fame in Mbongeni Ngema’s Asinamali led him to grace stages in South Africa and abroad including Broadway in the late 80’s.
Few people, especially from areas like Mbekweni, have achieved what Solomzi achieved.
Whatever happened to him that led him to be mentally disturbed has robbed us the talent that this country needed. He was hit by a car and died.
Solomzi Bisholo has put Paarl community on the map in the performing arts industry.
Ta Mbazo as most people in Mbekweni, Paarl would call him, was passionate about drama and theatre. He motivated most of us who come from Paarl to pursue careers in this field.
Today, most of us are gracing the small screens and theatre stages across the country and abroad because of inspiration from Ta Mbazo.
I personally call upon Paarl community, artists, politicians, business people especially in Paarl to honour people like Ta Mbazo in whatever capacity. Ta Mbazo didn’t deserve to die like that. Ta Mbazo deserved a heroic funeral.
How can a hero be forgotten like that?
