THE Pan South African Language Board (PanSALB) has announced multilingualism awards to celebrate a decade of multilingualism in South Africa.

Awards will be made in six categories - music, literature, media, the corporate sector, the public sector and institutions of learning.

People or institutions that make a marked contribution to promote multilingualism may be nominated or may enter for the awards.

“The awards will acknowledge individuals or institutions that promote the official and other South African languages, multilingualism and the use and development of the indigenous languages, cross-cultural understanding and that raise awareness of the role of language in uniting the people of South Africa,” Nkosi said.

Entry forms are available on PANSALB’s website ww.pansalb.org.za until 30 November and can be e-mailed to sibusiso@pansalb.org.za, or PanSALB, Private Bag X08, Arcadia, 0007 or delivered to 35 On Wale Building, 35 Wale Street, Cape Town. Call 021-424-4380 for enquiries.
