LOCAL rubberduckers Steyn Basson and Jan Kriel (Team Agriwire) confirmed their status as South Africa’s top racers in the P750 Blueprint Class by winning all six heats of the Rat Race Media Inflatable Series at the dam at Mountain Mill Mall in Worcester on the weekend.
The event was a flatwater circuit with three heats scheduled for both Saturday and Sunday.
On Saturday the weather was almost perfect with all the competitors clocking quick times.
Strong winds on Sunday caused a bit of trouble for some of the racers which resulted in what could have been an ugly accident in one of the heats.
Although no-one was seriously injured, the heat was stopped.
The remaining races continued as Basson/Kriel left their opponents drifting in their wake.
* The next race is the Trans Agulhas which starts in Plettenberg Bay on 1 December and finishes in Strand on 1 January.
