Braille Day

THE 4th of January has been declared World Braille Day to commemorate the birth on 4 January, 1809, of Louis Braille, the inventor of Braille.

He lost his sight as a child as the result of an accident in his father’s workshop and when he was about sixteen years old, he invented the Braille code.
