I WISH to add to comments made by Charmaine Manuel in the Paarl Post dated 1 September 2011. If anyone knows the true circumstances, it is surely a Mayor that served with Dr Kabanyane for years.
I was appalled when I read the crude and cruel front page article denouncing and degrading our revered Town Manager.
Surely this matter could have been dealt with internally with discretion and weighed against the benefit that Dr Kabanyane has been to Paarl since he took this hot seat? So many good things have happened during his office as Town Manager.
Could the DA not have listed the advantageous projects he initiated before condemning him for mistakes made?
We all make mistakes, and the soccer mass hysteria caused many millions to be wasted. I do not condone the tender process for flags or other alleged irregularities, but to publicly disgrace a man of Dr Kabanyane’s calibre so openly in the press, is disgraceful. Just to impress the public with the DA competence to expose mismanagement of funds.
Would Paarl have had central municipal offices in Main Street and a new public library without the diligence and hard work of Dr Kabanyane?
Is this modus operandi of the DA conducive to co-operation between parties for the benefit of Paarl?
