AFTER studying abroad, local opera talent Jo-Nette le Kay is back in South Africa and showcasing some of Paarl’s young soloists in her annual spring concert.
The concert will be held this Saturday at Mooikelder Guest House outside Paarl.
Jo-Nette, a seasoned opera singer and music teacher at the Frank Pietersen Music Centre in Paarl for the past three years, will be performing some of her favourite pieces in addition to showcasing top student performances.
“It’s been an amazing journey with so many gifted young performers. The group has been singing and performing together for the past few years and I deemed this the perfect platform to showcase their talent to family, friends and the community at large.”
She spent the beginning of 2011 in Augsburg, Germany, completing master classes with baritone Laurence Gien. Here she focused on honing her opera skills.
The concert at Mooikelder will start at 19:00 and will cost R50 per person. Tickets will be available at the door or can be booked with Jo-Nette on 076 523 6464.
