Tourism is an important economic activity for the Western Cape region and wine tourism is fast gaining popularity globally. We are looking for young, dynamic and self-motivated individuals to help build the profile of the Dwarsriver Valley in this exciting context.

TOURISM OFFICER:
DWARSRIVER VALLEY TOURISM OFFICE

Job Profile: Managing and supporting tourism projects, attending tourism exhibitions and marketing events, undertaking community liaison, facilitate community awareness and training as well as educationals for media, tour operators etc.

Organise tourism workshops & meetings, facilitating and monitoring a range of tourism projects, increasing community participation & awareness in tourism initiatives, building relations with tourism stakeholders, strong financial management skills.

Requirements: Relevant tertiary qualification preferably in tourism, or at least 2-3 years’ working experience in the tourism environment, computer skills, administrative skills, project management skills, fluent in Afrikaans & English, Xhosa will be a recommendation, demonstrated interest in tourism development will be to the applicant’s advantage, knowledge of foreign languages will also be to the applicant’s advantage (German & French), valid Code B driver’s licence. Candidate should have a good knowledge of tourist attractions in the Cape Winelands and willing to learn more.

TOURISM OFFICE ASSISTANT:
DWARSRIVER VALLEY TOURISM OFFICE

Job Profile: Handling tourism related enquiries from the public, accurate booking of accommodation, excursions, events etc, general administrative duties, must be map literate, good communication skills, have experience of stock control & organis-ing of displays.
Requirements: Grade 12 Certificate or equivalent, excellent computer skills, valid Code B driver’s licence, fluency in Afrikaans and English, relevant front office experience will be an advantage. Candidate should have a good knowledge of tourist attractions in the Cape Winelands and be willing to learn more.

Commencement of duties:

To be arranged mutually for both positions
