Paarl Post, one of the leading community newspapers and frequent winner of the Cronwright Trophy for Best Community Newspaper in South Africa, has a vacancy for a dynamic and energetic bilingual journalist with an applicable tertiary qualification.
Journalist
The person in this position will be responsible for the following:
• Gathering of news and accurate information on events in the Drakenstein area. • The writing of balanced news and articles on events in English and Afrikaans. • Taking of quality photographs. • Establishing and sustaining relationships with the community of Drakenstein through good people skills.
The ideal candidate is someone with at least three years’ experience in journalism or a relevant tertiary degree or certificate.
The person must have the ability to work independently and in a team under constant deadline pressures.
The person must have language, computer typing and camera skills, be in possession of a valid driver’s licence and must have access to a vehicle for work purposes.
