THE arguments against the demolition of the wretched, derelict house in Loop Street, Paarl, take the cake.
Even if it is an old building there is no point in retaining it when it is falling apart and has been taken over by the homeless who are demolishing it bit by bit.
The only thing worth retaining on that property is the magnificent tree which can hardly be appreciated by passersby, due to the refuse and excrement underneath it.
This building is detrimentally affecting the economy and property prices in central Paarl.
The rights of the property owner should not be usurped by heritage organisations. Surrounding residents are hard hit by this eye-sore.
