OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH PRACTITIONER
An opportunity exists at DLS Western Cape in their Wellington Plant Risk Services Department for an Occupational Health Practitioner.
Key responsibilities: Manage clinic effectively in terms of Occupational health care, medical surveillance, emergency assistant and administration.
Identification of health hazards by means of plant visits with the Doctor and reporting thereof.
Carry out relevant medical examinations e.g. pre-placement, routine, exit and periodical medical examinations.
Render and co-ordinate limited primary medical care.
Co-ordinate the treatment of minor ailments and medical/work related injuries, diseases and emergencies.
Efficient and cost effective management of the clinic.
Ensure compliance to the relevant Occupational Health and Safety Acts, relevant Regulations and in-house Occupational Health standards.
Co-ordinate and control medicines and doctor's visits.
Provide occupational and primary health care, counselling and health education on individual and group basis.
Submit a monthly report to Superior regarding clinic activities.
Advise management with regard to occupational hazards and surveys.
The successful candidate should possess: Diploma in general nursing science with an additional post basic qualification in Occupational Health. Licence to practice by being a paid-up member of South African Nursing Council and SASHON.
Medical dispensing licence will be of advantage.
5 years experience as an Occupational Health Practitioner in an Occupational Health capacity.
Code B driver's licence (old Code 8).
Demonstrated ability to manage performance and transformation.
High level of integrity and confidentiality.
