The following vacancy exists for a suitability qualified individual, to work in the West Coast Winelands District of the Western Cape. District Pharmacist Ref no: WC 008
Requirements: Current registration with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC) as a Pharmacist Have at least 1-2 years management experience. Previous experience in public hospital or other state facilities Experience in HIV / ARV medicines Computer literacy Knowledge and ability to comply with applicable legislation Ability to work independently and as a team player The ability to work accurately under pressure, give attention to detail and maintain a high standard of professionalism. Valid drivers licence and own vehicle essential Be flexible in terms of working with a number of sites Be prepared to travel within the West Coast Winelands district. Duties: Ensure high quality provision of Pharmaceutical Care by implementing and monitoring work procedures, policies and guidelines according to current good pharmacy practices. Be responsible for setting up and handing over of systems to DOH employed pharmacists and pharmacist's assistants for maintenance. These will include systems for: - indirect supervision of pharmacist's assistants at various Local Authority sites - efficient, safe and legal dispensing of ARV medicine to patients - efficient stock control and insurance of security of ARV stock Training of Pharmacists Assistants (PA) with respect to: - A computerised pharmacy database thereby ensuring maintenance of all drug records. - HIV/ ARV medication and adherence Provide a professional advisory service, including input into a development plan for pharmacy staff and provision of training to other health care workers in relation to antiretroviral drug handling and supply management Provide pharmaceutical services as part of a multi- disciplinary clinical team The ability to work accurately under pressure, give attention to detail and maintain a high standard of professionalism Recommendations: Previous registration with the SAPC as a Pharmacists Assistant tutor Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
