The Paarl Post, one of the most influential community newspapers and frequent winner of the Cronwright Trophy for best Community Newspaper in South Africa, seeks a dynamic, energetic and bilingual sport journalist.
Sports Journalist
Responsibilities include:
• The gathering of news and accurate information about events in and around the Drakenstein area;
• Writing balanced news reports and articles about local events in English and Afrikaans;
• Taking photographs;
• Building a network of contacts in the community of Drakenstein.
• Have an interest in sport.
The ideal candidate should have at least three years of experience in the journalistic environment or a relevant tertiary qualification.
A candidate must have the ability to work independently as well as in a team, under pressure and sometimes irregular hours. Language, computer and photographic skills, as well as a driver’s licence and own transport are compulsory.
The company offers a market related, total cost to company remuneration package. Preference will be given to previously disadvantaged persons in accordance with the employment equity policy of the group.
