I AM involved in teaching a group of pensioners in Mbekweni to knit, sew and embroider.
They absolutely love the class and are hungry for materials such as knitting needles, wool, material to cut up and make into small items like patchwork, aprons or table-cloths and embroidery cotton – anything to do with hand crafts of that nature.
I’m sure there must be those of you out there who have discarded projects and/or materials (at the back of the cupboard or in the loft) which no longer serve a purpose, but are too good just to throw in the bin.
It’s those items the ladies sitting there would just love to get their hands on. Even a sewing machine would be fantastic. I have applied for funding, and I think we’ll get it, but those things take time and we just want to get on with it and learn new skills.
The items you once treasured, or from your mom, will be put to very good use and will be much appreciated.
