Death of Claudio de Re

PROMINENT Paarl businessman Claudio de Re (68), passed away on Friday.
De Re was an Italian immigrant who came to South Africa with his parents in 1952 at the age of sixteen.
He started De Re & De Re construction company in 1964 which was responsible for many government contracts as well as many industrial property developments in Paarl.
He was an astute businessman and was actively involved in the Paarl Chamber of Commerce first as secretary and then as vice-chairman.
He was also passionate about Formula 1 racing and sports cars. He served as chairman of SEFAC (Southern Equatorial Ferrari Automobile Club) for a number of years.
De Re enjoyed excellent health and was still active in the business with his son Anton until he was diagnosed with advanced prostate cancer two years ago.
He will be sorely missed by his son, his mother Maria, brother Florio, daughter Isabella Agherdien and four grandchildren.
The funeral service will be held at St Augustine’s Catholic Church in Paarl at 10:00 on Saturday morning.
