Make a difference with Christmas Fund
2008-10-09
THE Paarl Post is once again calling on its readers to support the Paarl Post Christmas Fund, which raises funds for the Western Cape Community Chest, supporting more than 20 local deserving non-profit organisations. Community Chest already makes considerable annual contributions to these NGO’s (about R700 000 thus far) and local businesses are invited to give them a boost by contributing to the coffers via the Paarl Post Christmas Fund. All contributions are paid into a separate bank account, to ensure that local contributions are utilised for local NGO’s. No contribution will be paid to organisations out- side the Paarl district. Deserving organisations supported by the Paarl Post Christmas Fund are SANCA, ACVV (Paarl, Paarlvallei, Franschhoek and Wellington), Rusoord old age home, Oasis senior care centre, Badisa Paarl and Wellington, Child Welfare Paarl and Wellington, Drakenstein Centre for the Physically Disabled, Epilepsy SA’s Care Craft Wellington Workshop, Abbeyfield Home Wellington, Andrew Murray Children’s Home, and educare centres Sinethem- ba, Lingelihle, Nompumelelo, Mamza- na, Rise & Shine, Little Stars, Kairos (Simondium), as well as Siyakhula and Wieliewalie day care centres. Organisations active locally, which are also subsidised by Community Chest, include Cansa, Rapcan, Famsa Boland, Autism Western Cape, TB Care, Santa, Hospice, Dementia SA and Diabetes SA. Only formal organisations who submit financial statements are supported by Community Chest, which is chaired by Brian O’Connell, rector of UWC. All donations go directly to charitiable organisations, while administration costs are financed from other sources, such as bequests from deceased estates. The Paarl Post hereby appeals to your company to support us with this project, which will ensure that your donation goes to local charities only. Any company making a sizeable donation to the Paarl Post Christmas Fund as part of their social responsibility expenditure, will be featured in the newspaper with a photograph of the presentation. Send donations to the Paarl Post Christmas Fund, PO Box 248, Paarl, 7620. Donations can also be paid directly into the bank account Community Chest/PPost 6215 2029 007 at FNB (branch number 261150) and fax the slip to the Editor, Paarl Post, on 021872-9280. For enquiries, phone 021870-3701. * The closing date for applications from new beneficiaries to be listed with Community Chest next year, is 31 October. Contact Heindrich Zana on 021-424-3344 for application forms.
