Inexplicable death

Inexplicable death

2005-03-17

A WELLINGTON couple is still trying to come to terms with the telephone call they received from police.

“There has been an accident. Your daughter is dead.”

Michaela de Freitas (22) is well-known in Wellington, where she served customers in her parents’ Lucky Go-Go Fisheries in Main Street.

“My sister was always so kind and she would cheer up the customers.”

Michaela left home at 10:00 on Sunday to visit a friend in Wellington.
Her parents have no idea why she had been driving on the road between Wolseley and Tulbagh, and why she was involved in a head-on collision with a truck at 12:00.

"I need to understand. Sometimes I think it can’t be true, " her mother says.

Michaela leaves her parents Alberto en Maria, and brother Ruben (19).

The service is in the St Augustine's Catholic Church in Paarl at 14:30.
