Funeral of Oliver "Bokwe" Matakata

ONE of the first black Springboks in South Africa, Oliver “Bokwe” Matakata (79), passed away unexpectedly of natural causes.
His son Jama Matakata served a term on Robben Island for political offences and was the writer of a book called, “Hills of Hope”, published in 2004.
Matakata is survived by his wife Angelina and nine children.
He will be buried on Saturday in Paarl. The funeral service will be held at Mbekweni Community Hall at 10:00.
