Safes no longer inspected

2009-09-10

IT will no longer be necessary for members of police to inspect firearm holding safes for new firearm applications.

Paarl police station has requested that all applicants provide the firearm office with a colour photograph of their safe when applying for licences.

Currently no firearm licence renewals are being processed pending the outcome of a court battle between the SA Hunters Association and the Minister of Safety and Security. For further information, contact 021-807-4115/4011/4081/4012.

* In the meantime, the Wellington police are urging applicants who have been notified of the arrival of their firearm licences, to collect them at the police station. This station has more than 600 licences which have not yet been collected (021-864-8561).
