Charities in Wellington will benefit from the profits. Tickets cost R40 (children under 12 years free) in advance from Basson Skoene and W’Rite Shoppe. Tickets including maps available on open days at Wellington Museum and at the open gardens. No animals are allowed and children must be under parent supervision. Klein Optenhorst farm, boasting the garden of Naas and Jenny Ferreira, is nestled at the foot of Groenberg Mountain. You will find this a little piece of paradise. By popular demand this garden will also be open on Sunday 25 October (entrance for the day is R30 including delicous scones and tea). John and Lou Barns’ Mischa Wine Estate is surrounded by spectacular scenery and is situated below Groenberg Mountain. Eventide Homestead is situated between green vineyards on Mischa. Tea, coffee, fruit juice and snacks will be served in this garden. Historic Cordiersrus, garden of Johan and Estelle Malan, is mainly white, pink and blue and has beautiful large trees, lawns, immaculate flower beds and a formal rose garden. The garden on Welbedacht Estate, owned by former rugby player Schalk Burger and his wife Myra, surrounds a restored home and wine cellar. The huge dam with its little island and gazebo is the main focus point in this green garden.
