Heat claims victim after ride

A WELLINGTON man, Grant Hume (40), died at a doctor’s surgery in Wellington of a heart attack, after participating in a fun ride organised by his son’s nursery school. Hume enjoyed the Dwergiebos school’s cycle ride with his son, Jaden (5) in hot weather on Saturday, but afterwards complained of chest pains and shortness of breath. His wife took him to the doctor’s surgery, where he was immediately treated, but his life could not be saved. Hume, who matriculated at Labori High School in Paarl, was sales manager at Massamatic and was well-known throught the weighing industry. He is survived by his wife, Theresa, his son, his parents Michael and Stephanie (Gifford) and four brothers. The funeral is at the Wellington East NG Church at 10:00 today.
