WITH the completion of housing projects in Drakenstein in slow mode and with the winter rain season ahead, residents of new houses in Mbekweni (Silverton, Langabuya, Phola Park and Thembani Square) are sitting with another headache - leaking roofs!

And it will cost R10 million to repair these roofs, councillor Arthob Petersen, portfolio holder for housing, said in his report to the mayoral committee last week.

Mellon Housing and Everite have reacted to Drakenstein Municipality’s request to look into this matter and will report back as soon as they have analysed their findings.
