A PAARL educator who recently travelled to Australia to visit her son, has died in a Sydney hospital after suffering a bacterial infection. Esther Wynne (61) and her husband Kevin flew to Sydney last month to visit their son, Heinie, their daughter-in-law, Taryn, and two grand-daughters. Taryn is pregnant with the couple’s son. They were due to arrive back in South Africa on Sunday, but things went terribly wrong last week, when Esther became ill and she was hospitalised. Her daughter Liezl, who is currently living in Sweden, arrived in Australia only hours before Esther passed away from massive organ failure. She is thought to have contracted a bacterial infection which severely affected her bronchial system and caused septicaemia. She will be cremated in Australia and a memorial service will take place for her in Sydney today. Kevin and Heinie will return to Paarl this weekend and a funeral service will take place on Tuesday 20 July at 11:00 at St Augustine’s Catholic Church in Paarl. Esther, who has taught at a number of local schools, was currently a lecturer at the Cape University of Technology in Wellington.
