AN unusual prayer event will take place in Wellington at die NG Mother Church in Church Street on 21 October at 13:30, where the Rev Andrew Murray served long ago as pastor (from 1873 to 1906). It is open to all.
The leaders and participants in this international prayer meeting will be attending the Lausanne Evangelical Congress in the Cape Town Convention Centre that week.
The Wellington event will be one of the optional outings for the more than 4000 delegates from all over the world, and is organised by David Bliss, director of the Andrew Murray Centre in Wellington.
It is anticipated that a good number of foreign visitors will wish to come out to Wellington for the day, to see the buildings he built, and to pray for revival.
Between the 1860’s, when Murray started writing, until his death in Wellington in 1917 at age 89, his books became widely known. Volunteer “walking tour guides” are needed for the day.
They will receive a typed script to read at the various stops, to explain to visitors what they are seeing, and thus to discover more about South Africa’s “faith history. ”If you wish to participate, contact the information line in Wellington on 021-873-4380 or send an e-mail with phone contacts to info@andrewmurraycentre.org and a volunteer will contact you about ways in which you can participate as a host or hostess, or as a walking tour guide.
