2011-08-25
THE Wellington Garden Club is hosting its Open Gardens and Garden Expo on Friday 21 and Saturday 22 October from 09:30 to 17:00. Entrance for all gardens included is R70 (children under 12 free). This includes two farm gardens, four small and two large town gardens, as well as a beautiful old manor house filled with antiques, surrounded with an estate garden, situated on a historic farm founded in 1699. Tickets including maps will be available on open days at Wellington Museum and at the gates to the open gardens. Tickets will also be available in advance at Basson Shoes, 26 Church Street, the W’rite Shoppe at the Pick n Pay centre or the W’rite Shoppe in Church Street, Wellington. A portion of the income will be distributed amongst local wellfare organisations. The Garden Expo at Langkloof Rose Farm is free. Come and enjoy a tea garden, light lunches, stalls selling plants, seedlings, seeds, iron garden décor, freshly baked bread and related interesting items at bargain prices. The rustic little chapel’s sacred atmosphere is captured in a display of roses. In the guest bedrooms and function venue of the renovated manor house, party tables are decorated with event themes, like the wedding guest table and rose flower arrangements. Short guided tours and talks will also be presented by Langkloof Rose Farm over the two days. There will also be workshops. On Sunday 23 October only the Klein Optenhorst garden will be open (R40 entrance including tea and scones) For prebooking of workshops, visit www.wellingtontuinbouklub.co.za or contact Susna du Toit 084 664 1665 or Hestie van Wyk on hvanwyk@iafrica.com.
