Sizzling valley

AFTER a relatively cool and windy December and January, the first week of February produced a heat wave with unabated high temperatures.
Last Wednesday the mercury rose to 38,8 degrees, and on Thursday the temperature hit a high of 39 degrees.
On Friday, with a bit of wind, the heat was a bearable 35,8 degrees, and over the weekend a more comfortable 31 degrees.
However, on Monday the sizzling heat returned to 38 degrees, while Tuesday and yesterday the valley baked at 35 degrees.
Although it will be cooler today and tomorrow, 37 degrees is forecast for Saturday. No rain is expected to bring relief from the heat.
