Blaze hits many

A NUMBER of fires ravaged parts of Mbekweni over the past weekend. About 18 informal homes were destroyed, leaving more than 60 people homeless.
The first blaze occured in Thembani 2 on Friday evening, razing eight homes to the ground.The cause has not yet been established.
On Saturday evening another fire broke out in Drommedaris Street, allegedly due to an electrical fault in an informal house.
Strong winds didn’t make the work of the fire-fighters easy, as the fire spread rapidly to adjacent structures, destroying another 10 homes.
One man was slightly injured when an electrical pylon exploded near him.
