Death of Ronny Kroukamp

A WELLKNOWN Paarlite, Ronny Kroukamp (76), passed away in Paarl Medi-Clinic last week, from complications after surgery for cancer.
Kroukamp, a marketing broker, was active in Rotary, the Probus Club, the Scouts, and youth soccer during the nearly 40 years he lived in Paarl. He was also a catechism teacher in the Catholic congregation for 17 years.
Born in Madeira, he emigrated to South Africa with his Portuguese mother and South African father at the age of 11, and went to trade school in Cape Town where he qualified as a bookbinder.
Kroukamp’s health had deteriorated due to heart problems, but improved after a pacemaker was implanted in June
However, cancer was diagnosed a month ago. The funeral service was held yesterday.
He is survived by his wife June, sons Gary of Cape Town and Tony of Chicago (USA), and a grandson, as well as a son, Michael, from a previous marriage.
