Death of Don Parkin

A WELL-KNOWN former resident of Paarl, Dr Don Parkin (66), has died of brain cancer in Vancouver, Canada, where he lived with his wife Jean.
The Parkins lived in Riesling Street, Paarl, until they emigrated a few years ago to join one of their children in Canada.
Dr Parkin qualified as a medical doctor at the University of Stellenbosch in 1975, and became a lecturer in Pharmacology and Toxicology at the medical school at Tygerberg in 1982.
While lecturing in the Department of Health Sciences, he obtained a Ph.D. in Pharmacology in 1996, with a study on TB treatment.
