SPCA to elect new commitee
2007-02-15
THE committee of the Wellington SPCA has resigned after months of discord. The committee consisted of chairman Nicolette Williams, treasurer Lynne Olivier, secretary Alison Cox and additional members Garth and Lorraine Williams.
Discord between the committee and a group involved mainly with fundraising for the upgrading of the kennels, was allegedly the chief factor leading to the resignation.
“The SPCA is primarily there to educate and assist pet owners in the sterilisation, care and well-being of their animals. If the Society was left in peace to do its work, its kennels would have very few guests,” Nicolette Williams said.
A special general meeting of the Wellington SPCA is to be held at 18:00 on Thursday 8 March at the SPCA premises adjoining the Wellington Industrial Park on the R44, to elect a new management committee.
This meeting was originally scheduled for 23 February. All SPCA members are invited to attend. For enquiries, phone Megan Loxton at the NSPCA’s 011-907-3590 or nspca@nspca.co.za.
